A wired alarm physically connects each detector to the control unit via a cable, guaranteeing highly reliable, interference-proof communication. A radio (wireless) alarm uses radio frequency transmissions between the peripherals and the control unit, making installation easier and less work. The choice depends on the type of home and the phase of the work: wired is preferable for new construction, radio for light renovation.

Some insurers require a NF&A2P-certified or NF EN 50131-compliant alarm system (grade 2 or 3) to grant premium reductions or cover certain claims. We recommend that you consult your contract before choosing your installation and, if necessary, call on the services of a certified installer.

Yes. In France, the Morange Act of March 9, 2010 makes it compulsory for all homes to have at least one smoke alarm. This obligation applies to both owner-occupiers and tenants (who must be informed by the owner). The DAAF must comply with standard NF EN 14604.

The number of cameras depends on the area to be monitored and the angles to be covered. For a standard single-family home, a minimum of 3 to 4 cameras is generally recommended: one at the main entrance, one at the rear and one or two covering the sides or secondary accesses (garage, gate). A 4-camera kit with DVR is a good place to start.

For reliable identification, a minimum resolution of 2 megapixels (Full HD 1080p) is recommended. For large areas or 4K use, high-resolution models (4 to 8 megapixels) offer superior operating comfort, particularly when digitally zooming in on recordings.

A connected videophone combines an outdoor panel with camera and microphone with an indoor monitor or mobile application. When someone rings the doorbell, a notification is sent to your smartphone, enabling you to see the visitor, talk to them and even open the door remotely, even when you're away.

For alarms not connected to a professional remote surveillance system, installation by a private individual is perfectly feasible, especially for radio systems. For NF&A2P certification or connection to a remote monitoring center, however, a certified installer is required. Video surveillance does not require any special certification for private use on parts of your property.

In France, video surveillance is governed by the Data Protection Act and the RGPD. For private use, you can film your own property (garden, driveway, garage), but you must not film the public highway or neighboring properties. If employees (domestic staff, janitors) can be filmed, they must be informed. A recorder must be secure to prevent unauthorized access.

A stand-alone alarm triggers a local siren in the event of an intrusion, and can send SMS alerts or push notifications to your phone. Remote surveillance means that a human operator constantly monitors alarms and can contact emergency services if necessary. Remote surveillance is more effective for rapid response, particularly in the event of prolonged absence, but requires a monthly subscription.

For analog video surveillance, coaxial cable type KX6 (75 ohms, diameter 6 mm) is the standard for distances of up to 300 meters. For longer distances or disturbed environments, KX8 cable (8 mm diameter) offers even better performance. These cables are available in our coaxial connectors category.
